About: From a mixture of parcels with an average age of 35 year old vines. Vinified and then aged in foudres with no bâtonnage, bottled in July the following year. Well balanced and open.
Pauline & Géraud Fromont met at wine school in Dijon, and after graduating returned to their native region of the Jura to start Domaine Les Marnes Blanches in 2006. Today, they farm 12ha of vines and all methods have been strictly organic since the get go.
Soil types are mainly red marl and gryphées (limestone rich in fossils) but the domaine is named after the soils at the Cesancey site, their first acquisition, which is white marl.
The domaine concentrates on either ouille or sous voile style whites, but also create small amounts of pinot noir, trousseau and poulsard which are usually vinified through semi-carbonic with whole bunches.
An interesting fact about the domaine is that during the terrible frost-affected vintage of 2017, Géraud started a micro-brewery with Guillaume Overnoy in order to create some cash. Got to love that hustle!
All wines are allowed to ferment naturally, and sulfur additions are little to none, making for pure, vibrant wines that deserve a place on your dinner table and in your cellar.
