About: Deep and expressive Poulsard. You're sure to fall in love with this native Jura grape after taking a sip.
There aren't many winemakers that can say they also have a masters degree in international law. Valentin Morel was a government officer in a French prefecture in 2014 when, inspired by his readings, he made the decision to return to his homeland of the Jura.
After spending time with winemakers Pierre Frick and Bruno Schueller in Alsace, Valentin took over his father's (Jean-Luc Morel) 6ha estate in Poligny and immediately began to make his mark. Conversion to organic and biodynamic farming practices as well as simplified cultivation techniques and natural winemaking. He also changed the name of the domaine to Les Pieds Sur Terre or “Feet on Earth”, which is the name of a local radio programme but also a tribute to traditional farming that never used chemicals in the vineyards.
Soils are typical of the region, (marl, clay and limestone) and vines are typically 30-40 years old. Recently Valentin has planted some new savagnin using selection massale, this was cut from the exceptional Domaine Labet, and poulsard from the great Phillipe Bornard.
