Grapes, Caprettone, Falanghina
Serving: Cold (6–11°C)
Made from a rare blend of 90% Caprettone and 10% Falanghina grapes grown in volcanic lapillus and sandy soils on the southern slopes of Mount Vesuvius. An energetic wine with good acidity and bursting with minerality characteristic of the volcanic soils of the region.
Since the 1700’s, the Matrone family has been cultivating vineyards on the southern slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Fast forward to this century, when Andrea Matrone and his cousin Francesco reappropriated their family’s original cantina and historic vineyard holdings that climb up the volcano. In fact, Strada Matrone is still today the main path to the crater.
