Grapes, Muscat, Syrah
Serving: Cold (6–11°C)
About: New vintage of one of our favourite Orange wines last year. Patricia and Remy have used Syrah from a friend close by in the Ardeche, which is direct pressed. Added to that is Muscat, growing in the Pyrennes region of Languedoc. Whole bunches are suspended in the juice to allow a gentle infusion of Muscat to the Syrah. The wine is then raised for 6 months in a mixture of big, old foudre barrel and clay amphora. This wine is so pure and fresh, the extended time on skins of the muscat giving subtle and thirst quenching tannin and plenty of aromatics, the Syrah adding a little pepper, spice, acidity and bright fruit to the mix. Altogether a heady and aromatic, musky style of wine that is difficult to categorise but ultimately insanely delicious and special.
