About: Sauvignon blanc from 1ha of 50 year old vines in Verdigy on limestone soils. The fruit is about 50% botrytis affected, direct pressed, vinified and aged in tank for two years before a year in old oak. Glowing amber in the glass, with ripe stone fruits, ginger and spice on the nose. This wine is one of the more subtle Riffault wines but by no means less complex.
Sébastien Riffault has stepped away from the stereotypical Sancerre's that his family has been making for generations and instead embraces the winemaking methods of ancestors before them. Using long macerations and fruit with botrytis to bring his wines to life, these cuvées are unique, intriguing and brilliant.
